The delegation will be jointly led by the Australian Space Agency and Austrade. The 36th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs, near Denver, will be held from Monday, 30 March – Thursday, 2 April.

The proposed Australian Space Industry Delegation program will be incorporated into this schedule, with delegates participating in the Space Symposium program, as well as specific tailored events.

The program includes:

  • A briefing or working lunch with key industry partners (Monday, 30 March 2020);
  • A full day (Monday, 30 March 2020) capability showcase to key US government representatives responsible for the NASA Artemis project across three key areas of capability; and
  • Participation in the "G'Day Space Industry Xchange" – the Australian government's feature event at the symposium on Wednesday evening, 1 April 2020.

Austrade and the Australian Space Agency are seeking interest from Australian companies with capabilities that can support NASA’s Moon to Mars Mission, including in the areas listed below.

Representatives from Australian space companies with capabilities in any of the following areas:

  • Robotics/automation;
  • Optical communications;
  • In-situ resource utilisation (ISRU) research;
  • AI and machine learning;
  • Digital mapping of celestial bodies including the moon or Mars; and
  • Broader supply chain functions related to the NASA Moon to Mars missions.

There is no cost associated with participation. However, participants must organise their own travel, conference registration and accommodation.

As places are strictly limited, all expressions of interest will be reviewed by Austrade and the Australian Space Agency for suitability. Registering your interest does not guarantee you a place in the delegation.

If you are accepted, you will be offered a place, which will be confirmed once you agree to the applicable terms and conditions.

Acceptance of your application is not confirmed until you have received formal notification from Austrade. Austrade is not bound to accept any application and shall only do so at its sole discretion so as to best facilitate export and foreign direct investment.

Australian travellers should be aware of the increased threat of terrorism globally and should consult the Australian government’s General Advice to Australian Travellers, which is available at www.smartraveller.gov.au

Applications close 31 January 2020. More information, including registration information, is available here
