Myriota welcomes Space Agency to SA

Nano-satellite internet of things connectivity company Myriota has applauded the government for its decision to base the Australian Space Agency in South Australia, with the agency’s new headquarters set to join Myriota at innovation hub Lot Fourteen.

Myriota chief executive and co-founder Dr Alex Grant said the company is thrilled at the news they will be neighboured by the Space Agency.

"With the goal of positioning Australia as an international leader in specialised space capabilities, the agency's move here will see us further cement deep relationships to the Australian government and its space focused policy makers," Dr Grant said.

"Historically, companies who wanted to be close to the government previously needed to have a Canberra office. We applaud the federal government for choosing to base itself in South Australia, and establish close ties to its space industry. The move shows just how passionate the agency is about bolstering the industry Australia wide."

Space innovation has an established history in South Australia, with Australia's first satellite launched from Woomera in the 1960s.

Dr Grant said that his company is "truly reflective of South Australia as the home of deep space technology, and we applaud the government for seeing the impact that we are having on Australian industries including agriculture and defence".

"Lot Fourteen is delivering on its vision of becoming a vibrant focal point not just for start-ups, but for government engagement. Adelaide is the perfect launch pad to take Australia's space journey to a new level".
