AusSpace24 Awards hunting for top space start-ups

Space Connect is pushing the best start-ups in the space sector to submit an entry in the AusSpace24 Awards.

The AusSpace24 Awards (formerly known as the Australian Space Awards) recognises Australia’s top space industry professionals and businesses.

There are 25 individual and group categories on offer this year, including Start-up of the Year.

Submit an entry or nominate someone by Monday, 4 March 2024 for a chance to be rewarded for your achievements.

This group award category recognises all start-ups (regardless of their specialisation) operating across domains such as agriculture, launch, observation, research and development, telecommunications, satellite, energy, mining, transport, and all other space-related disciplines.

To qualify as a finalist for this award, you must demonstrate that you have capitalised on market opportunities and driven demonstrable growth while helping strengthen of Australia’s space economy.

All space start-ups are encouraged to participate irrespective of size, revenue, or geographic location/s.

PROMOTED CONTENT

The period of assessment is the calendar year 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023. All information will be treated as confidential and only shared with the specific judges that assess this category.

Entrants must provide their ABN, month and year when they started trading their business, number of full-time and part-time employee numbers, as well as the sector of space the majority of the business services or consults.

Highlight your top achievements

As part of the assessment criteria, you will be asked a series of questions, for which you must provide responses of a maximum of 400 words per question.

Begin by outlining your product or service, distribution, customers, pricing, and approach to customer service.

Following this, detail the market potential for your business, system, or platform, including your unique selling points and competitive advantages, and the process for scaling/expanding it with reference to financial or other relevant data.

The submission presents an opportunity for you to showcase your major successes, achievements, milestones, and innovation over the assessment period, how it shaped your business, and how your business leadership contributed to the outcome.

The final question asks entrants to detail how they funded the business, and plans for future growth.

Attach documents to enhance submission

To add weight to your responses, you are encouraged to provide and refer to any attached supporting material for the judges’ consideration.

This could include financial or business metrics, images, statistics, transcripts, media coverage, accolades, testimonials or recommendations/references and other relevant information.

You may submit a maximum of FOUR supporting documents to strengthen your entry, unless directly requested.

If the documents are not directly referenced and relevant to your submission, they will be disregarded.

In addition to the supporting documents, we also encourage entrants to submit an optional short video of up to 30 seconds long, answering the question: “What does business success mean to you”.

This award will provide peer-reviewed recognition of your capabilities in space and passion for driving the industry forward.

Finalists will be determined by a well-respected judging panel that includes senior space industry and government leaders, academics, business executives, entrepreneurs and innovators. Click here to view the methodology.

How to enter the awards

To enter the awards, decide which categories you are eligible to submit into.

Then, register your account through our secure awards platform and log in. Fill in the details of your submission/s.

When you are happy with your submission, press save and lodge it.

Submit an entry or nominate a start-up by Monday, 4 March 2024, to be in the running for the awards.
