Myriota welcomes George Kanuck as COO to expand global horizons

Stephen Kuper

Adelaide-founded satellite internet of things specialist Myriota has appointed seasoned technology executive George Kanuck as its new chief operating officer, as the company accelerates its global expansion.

Based in Austin, Texas, Kanuck brings more than two decades of senior leadership experience across complex technology businesses spanning internet of things (IOT), cyber security and enterprise software.

His career includes executive roles at Trustonic, Good Technology and within the Nutanix ecosystem, most recently serving as chief revenue officer at digital experience firm Monetate.

At Monetate, Kanuck was credited with strengthening the link between customer needs and product development, helping deliver a more consistent and scalable customer experience. Myriota said that background would be critical as demand grows for secure, low-power and affordable satellite IOT connectivity.

Kanuck’s remit will include scaling Myriota’s global service delivery and customer operations to support wider adoption of its HyperPulse and UltraLite satellite networks across industries such as oil and gas, renewable energy, logistics, agriculture, water and government.

He will also be responsible for improving end-to-end operational performance, as the company’s partner ecosystem expands, and building a unified operational platform for device makers, solution providers and enterprise customers deploying IOT solutions at a global scale.

Myriota chief executive Ben Cade said the appointment came at a pivotal moment for the company, saying, “With HyperPulse now generally available across multiple markets and strong momentum in agriculture, logistics, resources and environmental monitoring, we’re entering our next phase of growth.”

Cade added, “George brings a rare combination of operational discipline, commercial insight and experience scaling complex technology businesses. His focus is clear: reduce time-to-value for partners, strengthen service performance at scale, and ensure every customer interaction reflects the reliability of our network.”

Kanuck said Myriota’s technology stood apart from satellite systems adapted from consumer or mobile networks, saying, “Myriota has engineered its networks from the ground up to deliver critical data from assets anywhere in the world, with resilience forged in some of the most remote and challenging environments on Earth.”

The appointment comes as Myriota continues to expand its international footprint, with customers and partners now operating across 57 countries.

Kanuck added, “That specialist architecture enables ultra-low-power operation, truly global reach and predictable performance. I’m looking forward to translating that technical advantage into world-class operations that make it easier and faster for customers and partners to deploy, scale and rely on Myriota every day.”

Over the past decade, Myriota has built a growing satellite constellation, assembled a patent portfolio of more than 170 patents and raised more than $100 million in funding.

The company provides both connectivity and hardware that support critical operations in agriculture, utilities, logistics, mining, environmental monitoring and defence.

Myriota’s technology enables systems integrators, solution providers and original equipment manufacturers to develop and deploy connected products capable of sensing, tracking and monitoring assets in even the most remote parts of the world.
