Stantec appoints new Australian geospatial growth lead

Stephen Kuper

Stantec has appointed Rob Clout as its new geospatial growth and advisory lead for Australia, strengthening the company’s push to expand its spatial data and digital advisory capabilities across key infrastructure and government sectors.

In the newly created client-facing role, Clout will focus on growing Stantec’s geospatial advisory and Geographic Information System (GIS) services by securing new business opportunities and deepening engagement with existing clients nationwide.

Working alongside teams across Australia, he will help position geospatial capabilities earlier in project planning and delivery while developing scalable service offerings designed to turn spatial data into measurable operational and community outcomes.

Stantec director of digital technology for Asia-Pacific, Louisa Bloomer, said spatial intelligence was becoming increasingly critical to how communities and infrastructure networks are planned, managed and adapted.

“Spatial data underpins many of the decisions that shape our communities – from how we plan and move, to how we respond to change,” Bloomer said.

“Rob’s ability to bridge technical capability with practical delivery will help our clients make faster, evidence-based decisions and embed spatial intelligence into the projects and assets that matter most.”

Clout joins the company with more than 25 years of experience in spatial data, GIS and digital engineering, having worked across government and major infrastructure sectors.

His expertise includes spatial strategy, enterprise GIS, digital asset intelligence, reality capture technologies and digital twin solutions.

Commenting on his appointment, Clout said he was looking forward to helping organisations unlock greater value from their spatial data capabilities.

“I’m excited to join Stantec and help our clients realise the full value of spatial data – from capture through to insight and decision making,” he said.

“For me, it’s about connecting technology, data and people to solve complex problems, and helping clients move from pilots to embedded capability that improves outcomes across networks, cities and critical assets.”

The appointment comes as demand continues to grow for advanced geospatial and digital engineering capabilities to support infrastructure planning, asset management and smarter city development across Australia.
