Rocket Lab celebrates back-to-back launches across 2 hemispheres

Stephen Kuper

Rocket Lab has set a new company launch record after completing two Electron missions in just two days, one from New Zealand and the other from the United States, bringing its 2025 tally to 18 successful launches.

The latest mission, “Follow My Speed”, lifted off from Launch Complex 1 at Māhia Peninsula on 20 November 2025 at 12:43 UTC (1:43am NZDT on 21 November).

The Electron rocket successfully deployed a payload for a confidential commercial customer. The launch followed only 48 hours after Rocket Lab’s previous mission from Launch Complex 2 at Wallops Island, Virginia, which marked the company’s third HASTE launch of the year and its sixth use of the suborbital Electron variant for hypersonic technology trials.

The rapid-fire launches reinforce Electron’s standing as the world’s most frequently flown small orbital rocket.

Rocket Lab has boosted its Electron launch cadence by an extraordinary 1,700 per cent in under 10 years, supported by surging global demand for responsive space access and the company’s consistent delivery of precise orbital insertions.

Rocket Lab founder and chief executive Sir Peter Beck said the back-to-back missions demonstrated the company’s maturity and agility.

“Electron once again proves why it’s the champion of small launch globally,” Beck said. “These two launches show the team’s ability to deliver for customers anywhere, anytime, and across any mission profile – from hypersonic suborbital testing to commercial orbital deployment – all within 48 hours and from opposite sides of the world. Setting a new annual record is an outstanding achievement by a remarkable team that continues to push the launch industry forward.”
