Gilmour confirms expectation to conduct second test flight in late 2026

Gilmour Space Technologies has confirmed it’s expecting to conduct a second test flight towards the end of this year.

The Gold Coast-based company is developing Australian-made Eris orbital rockets with the Bowen Orbital Spaceport in Queensland to provide commercial satellite launch services.

The company has also previously conducted a test flight in July 2025 with the vehicle flying for 14 seconds before crashing and combusting at the launch pad in Bowen, Queensland.

“We’re currently looking at the end of 2026 for TestFlight2,” Gilmour’s Michelle Gilmour said.

“In the meantime, we’re planning a suborbital hypersonic test flight in the coming months, pending approvals and key pre-flight tests.

“Any further timing will follow from that.”

In addition, Gilmour has previously received a new $5 million grant from the federal government to accelerate the development of its next-generation liquid rocket engine in 2025.
