The Mini Meggs, a six-inch, two-stage sub-orbital rocket, powered by ethanol and nitrous oxide bipropellant engine, was originally launched during an extended launch window on 6 July at White Cliffs in NSW.
The company’s historic commercial launch of the first Australian-designed and Australian-built liquid-fuelled rocket created waves through the industry in July as it reached 17,000 feet against a 20-kilometre target, with payloads deployed cleanly, descending under parachute and recovered the same evening.
At reduced altitude, onboard avionics recorded almost seven seconds of high-quality microgravity, below 30 milli-g, with a peak acceleration of just 2.6 g, the gentle flight environment sensitive payloads require.
The payloads and flight data are now being returned to customers.
“(The) Mini Meggs rocket (flew) from Endeavour Aerospace’s Red Sands Launch Site at White Cliffs, NSW, proving its full commercial operation end to end, from payload integration through to launch, recovery and return of data to customers,” the company said.
“A fill process issue on that flight has since been identified and fixed ahead of the October campaign.
“Sunburnt Space’s October mission is targeting 25km, with altitude expansion continuing across the manifest.”
