The satellite strengthens Viasat’s ability to deliver advanced connectivity services while creating new opportunities for growth in key markets and enhancing network economics.
“With the VS3 constellation now fully operational, we have substantially expanded our ability to deliver high-quality connectivity where demand is growing fastest and introduced new forms of resilience for our government and commercial customers,” Mark Dankberg, chairman and CEO of Viasat, said.
“This is a major milestone for Viasat and our customers and positions us well to deliver differentiated experiences and support our highest-value markets around the world.
“We believe that the VS3 satellites are the most advanced commercial satellites in the world in terms of adaptive beam forming for cost efficiencies, user performance improvements that offer higher speeds on both forward and return links, and resilience to interference.
“We also believe VS3 technology sets new commercial standards for solar power generation and thermal dissipation – both critical technology challenges for developing economical data centres in space.”
ViaSat-3 F2 is designed to provide more than one terabit per second of throughput capacity over the Americas, significantly increasing the company’s ability to meet growing demand for reliable connectivity in the air, at sea, and on the ground.
The satellite’s advanced beamforming technology dynamically allocates capacity to high-demand flight routes, shipping lanes, and geographic regions, helping maximise network performance where demand and opportunity are greatest and improve customer experience where it matters most.
With ViaSat-3 F1 already in service and F3 entering service across the Asia-Pacific region in August, completion of the ViaSat-3 constellation has tripled the bandwidth available across Viasat’s global fleet, providing the scale, flexibility, and reach needed to better support the company’s aviation, maritime, government, and broadband customers and establishing a powerful foundation for continued growth.
