Geoffrey Adams is the senior mission architect of the prime’s missile defence product line, based in Indiana, while Alan Clements is the local chief executive, based in Canberra.
It comes weeks after the company made international headlines after demonstrating its technology to track hypersonic missiles from space – a breakthrough previously thought to be near-impossible to accomplish.
Clements will speak on our AUKUS panel alongside former prime minister Scott Morrison and the US Space Force, while Adams will speak on our hypersonic panel.
L3Harris joins a line-up of global industry figures, including recent Australian astronaut Eric Philips, NASA’s former chief technologist A.C. Charania, and Dr Kelly Fast, who currently oversees NASA’s Planetary Defense department.
While hypersonic tech – defined as flying at least five times the speed of sound – is nothing new, countries are currently in an arms race to develop the next generation of hypersonic missiles that are so manoeuvrable in mid-air they can’t be intercepted or detected.
The ability to track hypersonics is, therefore, a core component of President Donald Trump’s upcoming Golden Dome project, which will seek to act like a larger version of Israel’s own Iron Dome.
