The partnership is designed to expand Raytheon’s ability to deliver secure, cloud-based systems that support national security missions, using AWS artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and scalable cloud infrastructure. The companies said the move will help customers cut costs, increase flexibility and speed up the rollout of new space capabilities.
Erich Hernandez-Baquero, Raytheon’s vice president for space intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, said the collaboration would strengthen the company’s ability to solve increasingly complex challenges.
“Our customers rely on Raytheon across space, data processing, command and control, and mission management,” he said. “Working with AWS allows us to accelerate responsible AI innovation, lift agility without compromising security, optimise resources and harden systems to deliver better outcomes.”
Under the agreement, customers will have expanded access to combined Raytheon–AWS solutions aimed at improving decision making, operational coordination and responsiveness.
Key focus areas include:
- Enhanced mission data processing using Raytheon engineering tools on AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Deploying mission management at the edge via AWS Outposts, which brings AWS hardware and services to remote or on-premises environments.
- Advanced, modular command-and-control systems for satellite constellations.
- Scalable mission management using AWS serverless technologies to rapidly integrate new capabilities.
- Integrating AWS’ AI and ML services, including Amazon SageMaker and Amazon Bedrock, to modernise software development and mission operations.
David Appel, vice president for US Federal Sales at AWS, said the collaboration brought together AWS’ secure and reliable infrastructure with Raytheon’s deep space systems expertise.
“This relationship reflects our customer-obsessed approach, delivering innovations that improve mission performance, cost efficiency and agility,” he said. “Together, we’re pushing space technology forward and helping ensure customers maintain an edge in a strategically vital domain.”
Raytheon and AWS have already begun delivering joint programs under the agreement, supporting both government and commercial space missions.
